Freelance Quality Control & Quality Assurance Consultant

The role

We are currently supporting multiple regulated manufacturing organisations in Belgium across the pharmaceutical and food sectors, who are looking to engage experienced freelance Quality Control and Quality Assurance consultants to support ongoing and upcoming quality-critical projects.

These are active contract opportunities, intended for freelance professionals only, supporting GMP- and HACCP-regulated environments where quality, compliance, and autonomy are essential.

Depending on the assignment, the role can be on-site or hybrid, with a degree of flexibility based on project needs and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

(Scope may vary slightly depending on sector and project)

Quality Control (QC)

• Performing QC activities within regulated manufacturing environments (GMP / food safety standards)
• Batch record review and release support
• Managing deviations, investigations, OOS/OOT
• Supporting inspections, audits, and audit readiness
• Ensuring compliance with regulatory, food safety, and internal quality standards

Quality Assurance (QA)

• QA oversight of manufacturing and/or laboratory activities
• Review and approval of quality documentation, SOPs, and change controls
• Managing CAPAs, risk assessments, and quality events
• Supporting internal, customer, and regulatory audits
• Acting as a quality point of contact for cross-functional teams

Profile required

• Proven experience in Quality Control and/or Quality Assurance within the pharmaceutical and/or food industry
• Strong working knowledge of GMP and/or HACCP / food safety standards
• Demonstrated ability to operate independently in a project-based environment
• Experience working on contract or project-driven assignments
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
• French and/or Dutch is an advantage, not mandatory
• Freelance status is mandatory (self-employed or via consultancy)

Very important note

Only candidates with prior, demonstrable freelancing / contracting experience will be considered for this position.

This role requires consultants who are already comfortable working autonomously, integrating quickly into client environments, and delivering value without onboarding or supervision typical of permanent roles.
